Access to support services for those most in need  recently got easier with the introduction of a new mapping service ‘Our Falkirk’.

The service has been developed by the Fairer Falkirk team and allows users to easily find a wide range of useful resources in local areas on a fully interactive map.

The free service can be accessed online and covers four main themes:

  • community food provision
  • Council help and advice
  • digital access to services
  • community advice

Users click on map pins that give a brief description of what services are available from the location such as opening times, if a referral/voucher is required, contact details and lots more useful information.

Anna Adamson, Fairer Falkirk Officer explained: “The map is a great resource for the public and staff alike making it really straight forward to find out what support is available in local communities that can really benefit many residents.

“We know that poverty can be a big barrier to accessing services but the new mapping service will ensure everyone can easily find the best support locally that suits their needs.

“I’d encourage staff, especially those who are working on the front line, to get familiar with the map and to share it wherever they can with local communities.”

The map was developed in partnership with thinkWhere and funded by the Open Data Institute.

The range of services highlighted by the map is expected to be expanded in the future. If you wish to see potential additional services added or update any of the map’s current information, please contact Anna via email
