Following additional funding received from the Scottish Government, we will provide financial support to pupils as follows:

Family Pandemic Payment - Summer 2021

A payment of £100 per pupil will be paid to parents/carers of eligible P1-S6 pupils in receipt of free school meals or a clothing grant awarded in the current school session.

The payment can be used by families for any purpose as they see fit. There is no expectation that these payments are to be used for any specific purpose.

How will the payment be made to parents and carers?

We will make direct payments to your bank account, using the details we hold on your Free School Meals or Clothing Grant claim. If no bank details are held on file, payments will be issued by cheque.

    When will I be paid?

Payment for each eligible pupil will be:

    • £100 paid on Friday 25 June 2021 (for the period Monday 28 June to Friday 13 August 2021)

While payments should be received on this date, this may vary slightly depending on your bank and payment method. Parents and carers receiving payment will be emailed to confirm the payment.

Note: If you receive Universal Credit, then this payment will be counted as capital. This will not normally affect the amount you receive unless you have savings or other capital totalling over £6,000. If you are concerned that this payment could impact your Universal Credit award, you should report the payment in your journal by signing in to your Universal Credit account or by calling the Universal Credit helpline on 0800 328 5644.

This payment will be disregarded in full for other benefits and for income tax purposes.

Who is not eligible for this additional support?

Pupils not eligible for this are:

    • Pre-school pupils in early years establishments.
    • P1-P3 pupils and those pupils in special educational settings where they receive a free meal through universal and not means tested provision.

The funding is being provided to enable the provision of alternative free school meal provision.

How will the payment be made to parents and carers?

You do not need to apply. For most families, we will automatically make payments to your bank account using data we currently hold on our systems. If no bank details are held on file, payments will be issued by cheque.
