In Scotland, before you rent out a residential property you must be registered as a Private Sector Landlord.

Registration aims to make sure that all private landlords in Scotland are 'fit and proper' to let property and helps local authorities engage with landlords who do not manage their properties correctly or maintain them to the Repairing Standard.

Registration lasts for 3 years from your approval date - after this time you will need to renew your registration.

All registered landlords and their tenants can access information and assistance on all aspects of private letting.
