LFD testing is a fast and simple way to test people who do not have symptoms of COVID-19.

The test usually involves taking a sample from your tonsils (or where they would have been) and from your nose, using a swab.

Results are available within 30 minutes - tests do not need to be processed in a lab.

If you test positive, you must have a follow up PCR test and immediately self-isolate to avoid passing the virus on to others.

If you are self-isolating because of a positive result you can access additional support from the Support for People team.

    Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR)

We have 2 Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) test sites or Mobile Testing Units in the Falkirk area:

PCR tests are mainly for people who have COVID-19 symptoms or if you have been identified as a close contact through Test and Protect.

    Make an appointment

You need to make an appointment to get tested at either of the PCR test sites. You can make an appointment online or phone 0300 303 2713.

Test samples are sent to a lab to be checked and most people get their result the next day, but it may take up to 3 days. You'll usually get a text or email with your result when it's ready.
