80 employees across Falkirk Council have now benefitted from the first sessions of on site health promotion clinics.

The 20 minute clinics are designed to improve the health and wellbeing of employees who attend and checks are carried out in a number of areas including: blood pressure, heart rate, body mass, lung capacity and conclude with advice on personal health and wellbeing.

John Pentecost, Building Operations Co-ordinator said: “I have found that spending time with a healthcare professional to discuss exercise and other lifestyle issues can have real long-term benefits. On balance, having a health check is much safer than not having one.”

The clinics took place over August and September across a range of locations and were delivered by an occupational health nurse. As well as providing a health check for employees, the clinics also tie in with the Council of the Future goal of our workforce being ‘Fit for the Future’.

More clinics are planned next year and will be promoted to managers across the Council.
