A project funded jointly by the Council and the Cyrenians has transformed a derelict toilet block at Dollar Park into a sheltered outdoor space within the Walled Garden in Dollar Park.

The £60k investment means the refurbished bothy will provide a sheltered area within the garden for the services Cyrenians deliver and allow the public to enjoy the garden in all weathers.

The six-week project got underway in January and was completed two months later due to a slight delay caused by heavy snow in February.

Jessica Paterson, Estates Development Officer said: “The refurbished bothy provides a much needed covered space and will help the Cyrenians to continue to maintain the spectacular floral displays within the walled garden. Hopefully, this sunshine will continue but I'd encourage everyone to visit and enjoy the gardens in all weather.”

Lynda Ross-Hale Senior Manager Cyrenians said: “The Bothy Project has been a long-term aspiration and an excellent example of partnership working which others will benefit from for a long time.”
