Falkirk Council considered a report today (24 June) which set out a project plan for the work to transfer the services currently provided by Falkirk Community Trust to the Council.

It also was agreed the proposed position of Trust functions within the Council service structure.

It is expected that work to transfer all services will be completed by 1 April 2022. The following service areas will transfer into the Council:

  • Culture, Arts, Museums and Parks moving to the newly formed Place division.
  • Libraries moving to Housing and Communities.
  • Sport and Leisure moving to Children’s Services.

A number of task groups involving both Council and Trust staff have been set up to take forward the work involved in the transfer.

These groups are working on areas such as asset transfer; finance; human resources; charity status among others. A project management group, involving senior staff from the Council and the Trust, has also been established to oversee this work. The membership of the Groups will now be expanded to support the delivery of the decisions taken.

Leader of Falkirk Council, Councillor Cecil Meiklejohn said: “We want to continue the excellent work carried out by Falkirk Community Trust over the past decade in delivering high-quality services.

“Planning has already started on the various pieces of work that are needed to make the transfer successful.

“Everything possible is being done to ensure we get the most from the new arrangements and that our communities and visitors continue to receive a positive experience.”
