How often have you gone to log in to MyView only to immediately forget your password?

For employees using Microsoft 365, that problem was resolved back in January when single sign on revolutionised how we access the HR and Payroll system.

But for those not connected to the Council network, remembering log-in details has remained a major obstacle ... until now, thanks to the launch of the MyView app!

The app, which is available to download now, provides every Council employee with access to all the information and functionality currently available on MyView's web portal directly on their personal phone or tablet.

'Appy days!

Downloading the app is simple.

  • Visit the app store on your phone or tablet
  • Search for MyView
  • Download 'MyView (for Zellis HCM Cloud)’
  • Enter registration code falkirk (all lower case)
  • When prompted select "Log in - MyView details"
  • Log in using your normal password and security information
If you cannot remember your password because you have been using single sign on you may wish to reset your password first.

After logging in with your normal security information you will then be given the option to use device authentication and to set your own biometric data. This means you will only need to use your finger, thumb print or facial recognition in future to log in – hurrah!

Don’t worry though, if you prefer to log in with a password, or want to stick to using the web portal, you can. The app just gives you another way to access your HR and Payroll information.

If you experience any issues using the app, please email MyView-selfservice@falkirk.gov.uk for help.

Downloading the benefits

Supplying single sign on and the app has only been made possible because the HR & Payroll system has been moved to the cloud, making MyView more resilient and secure. It also means information can be accessed 24/7, 365 days a year – that’s right, no more downtime in the evening.

They system can also now be easily integrate with Microsoft 365 opening up a whole world of possibilities – and the team behind the move is currently exploring the benefits of this, which could see the introduction of things like authorising annual leave direct from outlook.

Lisa Martin, Senior HR Systems & Payroll Officer, said:

"We know all too well the struggles people have with the system particularly around logging in, as we receive a high volume of requests for passwords to be reset each day. By moving to the cloud and introducing the app, it makes it easier for people to use MyView and frees up the Payroll and HR Systems team time so we can investigate and add new processes that will make the system even more responsive to the needs of employees and managers."

Step change

The Payroll team behind the move has been working hard to supply an easier and more accessible way to view payslips, request and approve holidays, log sickness and much more for several years.

Although they were able to mobilised quickly during the pandemic to allow access to MyView via the Council website, the move to the cloud has been the biggest change to the system since it was introduced in 2006.

Lisa said:

“If we did not make this move the system would stand still – and we could not let that happen, as employee salaries are the biggest outgoing the Council has. Using the cloud means we can develop slicker and more efficient ways to do the high volume, day-to-day processes and practices quickly”
