Over 40 employees from across services brought their ideas for improvement to the virtual table at the Employee Listening Event held in April.

Opening the session, Chief Executive Kenneth Lawrie highlighted there was a need to “get a shared understanding of what we need to do and how we will work together as we go forward”.

He went on to say the event aimed to “build on strengths and achievements made” and that there was “great potential for the future.”

He said: “Today is not only about getting your input into how we get from where we are now to where we want to be, but also what you think needs to change as we work together to make things better.”

Spark of an idea

Attendees were split into five breakout rooms; each being asked to provide their thoughts on one of five themes:

  • People
  • Partnerships
  • Entrepreneurial
  • Performance Excellence
  • Resources

The groups were also asked to come up with an idea that they felt would help us move forward and work better with each other and communities.

Ideas ranged from keeping the Council directory up to date with people’s current job titles to make collaboration easier, to ensuring lessons learned from service improvements were shared more widely.

All the ideas and suggestions made have now been shared with everyone who came along and with the Senior Management Team to help inform their thinking when planning for the future.

Come along!

The next Employee Listening Event takes place from 9.30am to 11.30am on Thursday, June 23.
