Yesterday Falkirk Council’s Emergency Executive agreed plans for the arrangements to re-open schools and early learning and childcare establishments in August.

While these plans remain subject to a final Scottish Government decision expected by 30 July 2020 in summary they mean:

All establishments will re-open for staff in-service on Monday 10 August and Tuesday 11 August 2020 with pupils returning from Wednesday 12 August 2020 with soft start arrangements initially being in place as a transition to full time attendance.

Those early learning establishments that have the capacity to do so will provide 1140 hours of early learning and childcare and others will provide 736.25 hours per year. New enrolments will be introduced/phased in as normal in line with our Early Years Admissions Policy.

Once we receive confirmation and guidance from the Scottish Government on the national position regarding the re-opening of schools in line with the national COVID Recovery “Route Map” we will then be able to confirm the exact details of the soft start arrangements and advise all parents of these arrangements for re-opening schools.  Letters will also be issued to parents on the exact early learning offer that they can expect to receive at their chosen establishment.

We appreciate the understanding that parents have shown throughout these challenging and difficult times and we look forward to being able to re-open our establishments in August 2020, in line with Scottish Government advice.
