Weather Forecast: Snow showers will continue to blow in from the east this afternoon with accumulations of snow keeping road surface temperatures below zero. Through this evening and the first half of tonight, snow showers will continue but, as the wind turns more north-easterly, the showers are forecast to become fewer in the second half of the night.

Weather Warnings: The current Amber warning for snow remains in place until 2100 tonight. A further Yellow warning for snow comes into effect from midnight and remains valid until midnight tomorrow night.  Details can be found here: UK weather warnings - Met Office

Here’s how we prioritise routes.

Treatment is continuing on the P1 routes, with The Braes and Upper Braes areas, and Denny Hills the areas of most pressing concern at present.  Lower lying areas are now free from lying snow, however our staff remain patrolling these areas given the changeable conditions.  Gritters will remain on main routes with back up on some of the higher routes to clear snow, with particular focus on clearing drifting snows along the B825 between Avonbridge and Limerigg.

All vaccination and testing sites have been treated and we will continue to give these locations high priority for support.

The following actions will be carried out:

Carriageways: This afternoon we will continue with the current treatment regime, and following a driver change later today, treatment to priority routes will continue. There will be a further driver change early tomorrow morning and treatment will continue to priority 1, 2 and 3 routes.  As before, Priority 2 and 3 routes will only be actioned once we are satisfied that main routes are clear.

Footpaths: Current treatments will continue for the remainder of this evening, and from 0500 tomorrow treatment to priority 1 and 2 footways will recommence, including support to Vaccination Centres .
