The Equality Outcomes and Mainstreaming 2025 report sets out goals across Falkirk to reduce inequalities and improve lives in the community.

Published every two years, the report outlines how services are being made fairer and more inclusive for everyone, while looking at new equality outcomes for the next four years.

After undergoing consultation to understand the most important issues to the public, the report focuses on three key areas: better data collection, support for young people, and improving access for people with disabilities.

If approved at the Executive on 3 April, the Council will look to focus on five key goals across these areas:

  1. Collecting better data to understand who is most affected by service changes.
  2. Helping young people succeed in education and reducing barriers to learning.
  3. Supporting 16–19-year-olds to enter and stay in work, training, or education, especially those in care, disadvantaged areas, or with additional support needs.
  4. Ensuring people with disabilities can find and keep fair employment.
  5. Making travel more inclusive and accessible for young people and those with disabilities.

These goals will involve numerous Council services, including schools, employment programs, libraries, and transport services.

The report also outlines the steps the Council will take to achieve these goals.

Karen Algie, Director of Transformation, Communities and Corporate Services, said:

These new equality goals reflect our commitment to reducing inequalities and ensuring our services meet the needs of everyone in our community.

“By improving our data collection, supporting young people in education and employment, and making travel more accessible, we are taking important steps toward a fairer Falkirk for all.
