Proposed relocation of Inclusion & Wellbeing Service to Dawson Centre Campus

Proposals to relocate Falkirk Council's Inclusion and Wellbeing Service (IWBS) from its current site at Laurieston Campus to the Dawson Centre Campus in Falkirk will be discussed at a meeting of the Executive on 13 March.
The proposal to relocate follows an extensive public consultation, which took place between November and December 2024. The consultation involved parents, staff, local community groups, elected members and Education Scotland.
A public meeting was held on 27 November 2024, providing an opportunity for stakeholders to ask questions and share feedback. Survey responses showed a range of views, with the majority recognising the benefits of the improved facilities for pupils and staff.
Education Scotland reviewed the proposal and endorsed the relocation, acknowledging the educational benefits for young people.
If approved the move will take place in April 2026 and will provide improved facilities for children and young people with additional support needs while maintaining community access to key spaces.
The IWBS supports children and young people aged 3-18 across the Falkirk Council area. The relocation to Dawson Centre Campus will provide:
- Enhanced and improved learning spaces
- Dedicated primary and secondary buildings to support transitions
- Better outdoor spaces, including a football pitch, garden area, and multi-use games area (MUGA)
- A more energy-efficient and accessible facility.
The new site is expected to offer a more suitable environment for education and support services. The facility will be designed to meet students' learning needs, provide dedicated support areas and improve accessibility.
Jon Reid, Director of Education said:
If approved, this relocation will ensure that children and young people receive education in a setting that better meets their needs.
“The new campus offers modern, purpose-built facilities, which would enable staff to deliver high-quality care and education in a more suitable and accessible setting.
The Dawson Centre would remain available for community use outside of school hours. Falkirk Council has worked to ensure that local groups will have access to the facility in the evenings on weekends, and during holidays.
