The GOALS Programme is for men who have committed a wide variety of offences, usually on more than one occasion. It aims to use offence focussed material to help reduce the risk of reoffending. Men can be referred to the programme by their Case Manager.
Throughout the programme participants think about the assumptions, beliefs and values they hold around offending behaviour. The benefits of the programme are that they:
- Develop new skills to use in real situations
- Are able to evidence that risks have reduced
- Improve communication skills
- Improve problem solving skills without offending
- Strengths base approach
There is no set start date or end date for the programme which takes around 12 weeks. As one participant completes the programme, another joins. Participants work at their own pace and according to their own abilities, supported by existing participants and facilitators.
The Citizenship Programme in Forth Valley is delivered in partnership with the Forth Valley Accredited Programmes Team (FVAPT); Sacro Groupwork Services; Falkirk, Stirling and Clackmannanshire Criminal Justice Social Work Services.
