You will find the neglect tool and all the associated paperwork uploaded on the shared drive. This module is in place of face-to-face training during the COVID -19 pandemic.

The toolkit has been developed by Action for Children in partnership with Glasgow Social Work Services and has been endorsed as the main risk assessment tool in the assessment of neglect.

The toolkit has been adapted from the work of Dr O P Srivastava, Consultant Community Paediatrician, and Luton Child Development Centre who developed the original Graded Care Profile.

In order to assess a parent’s capacity to meet their child’s needs, it is important in cases where neglect is suspected to examine and gain an understanding of both the current circumstance and the parents’ own early experience. 

Practitioners should use the introduction to the toolkit to remind themselves of definitions and contributing factors to neglect, including attachment styles.
