Protecting vulnerable adults from harm is something we should be aware of in our workplace and our local communities.

It’s National Adult Support and Protection Awareness Day on Sunday, 20 February – an annual reminder that if you have seen something that concerns you, then say something to those that can act.

Harm can take many different forms – financial; physical; psychological; sexual; neglect, discrimination amongst others.

Gemma Ritchie, Adult Support Co-ordinator explained:“During the Pandemic, we’ve seen more and more individuals isolated and therefore more vulnerable to harm and exploitation.

“Harm can take place in many different settings with vulnerable adults being mistreated and it is up to everyone to voice any concerns they may have.

“There are many different signs to look out for – physical injuries; people being shy and withdrawn; unexplained debt; self-harm. Many front-line employees have up close roles with the public and if you have concerns get in touch."

How to get in touch
