Working from home has become the new norm for office-based employees for the last few years.   In the Return to the Office pulse survey employees indicated they would be keen to see a more flexible working approach going forward.

With these results in mind combined with new Scottish Government guidance which now allows workforces to move towards a flexible way of working, we have introduced new hybrid working guidance.

Hybrid working is a workstyle that allows you to work your contracted hours flexibly between home and the office and gives options to suit you, your job and the delivery needs of your Service.

As the new guidance is on a voluntary basis initially, anyone wishing to work this way needs to submit a request to opt into this work pattern.

How to opt in

It’s quick and easy!  Simply go to My Forms on MyView and complete the hybrid working opt in form.

Submit the request, preferably by the end of March, as this will help with planning preparations for those returning to office locations full time. For more information read how to request a hybrid working pattern.

Before approving your request, your manager will discuss and agree working arrangements with you. This will take into account your role and Service delivery needs.

Please be aware, to allow time to manage occupancy levels in our buildings, you may be asked to continue to work from home more regularly than you might prefer initially.

Your manager will let you know when your request has been approved and update on any return to work arrangements.

Employees who don’t apply for hybrid working will return to their normal place of work/arrangements for all contractual hours, by possibly the end of April, but your manager will confirm this with you.

The hybrid working guidance and voluntary implementation process will be reviewed by officers and trade unions by the end of the Summer. This will offer an opportunity to look at what’s gone well, what could be improved, and process arrangements.
