Looking to increase the number of hours you work while also making a difference to the lives of young people? Consider becoming a driver for children and young people with additional support needs (ASN).

Becoming a driver is ideal for part-time or flexible workers and offers a way to make a positive impact by helping children travel safely to and from school each day.

Not only that you'll be supporting our wider efforts to transform council transport services, ensuring we use our resources in the most effective way.

What we’re looking for

We’re starting with a pilot driver project in Denny and Grangemouth and are keen to hear from anyone who could cover these areas.

We’re also building a bank of drivers for potential future expansion across the Council area, so even if you’re not based in Denny or Grangemouth, we’d love to hear from you.

What’s involved

You’d be transporting ASN pupils to and from primary and secondary schools, using either a council pool car or, for the pilot, an accessible minibus.

Support staff would travel with you, depending on the needs of the children.

Required training will be provided, including MIDAS, child protection and induction, with an enhanced PVG check.

Why consider the role

The role offers morning and afternoon shifts built around the school day, making it ideal for those wanting to add meaningful hours without disrupting current responsibilities.

You’ll also contribute to a valuable service.

Tell me more about the pilot

We’re looking for drivers who could pick up children from their home, drive them to school and take them back home at the end of their school day from Grangemouth High School and Denny High School.

If you’re interested but could only do the morning or the afternoon school run, we still want to hear from you.

For specific information on hours and pay see the job description on My Job Scotland.
