POPS - Persistent Organic Pollutants
New legislation regarding the storage and disposal of waste upholstered domestic seating, containing Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPS) was introduced in January 2024. We will still collect waste domestic seating as part of our bulky uplift service. However, the legislation affects the way we collect, store and manage POPS items.
POPS are poisonous chemical substances that break down slowly. POPS whilst now banned in manufacturing processes, were previously used in various products such as industrial chemicals and pesticides.
