Almost £2million is being invested in improving Falkirk Councils housing stock.

Members at today’s Policy and Resources Committee approved the proposals to undertake the work on council housing.

Properties from all over the Falkirk Council Area are set to benefit from gas heating replacements costing £1.1million and new roofing and roughcasting work totalling over £776,000.

Overall 610 properties will be benefiting from the planned work by becoming warmer and more energy efficient.

Councillor Craig Martin, Leader of the Council said: “This is an extremely significant investment that will improve properties throughout the whole Falkirk Council area. It will also help towards reaching the Scottish Housing Quality Standard (SHQS) target set for 2015.”

The Scottish Housing Quality Standard was introduced in 2004 and is the Scottish Government’s principal measure of housing quality in Scotland.
