Three free seminars are on offer to local businesses in a bid to help them to gain insight into key issues facing different sectors of industry in August and September.

Businesses are invited to join the presentations where industry experts, local business leaders and Council representatives will be on hand to discuss and network with delegates.

The hour long sessions have been organised by Falkirk Council will take place at Falkirk Business Hub, Vicar Street, Falkirk on Tuesday 30 August at 07:45; on Wednesday 31 August at 07:45 and on Thursday 1 September at 17:15.

The first session (30/8/16) will be ‘A Focus on Manufacturing’ -  led by Stephen Gray of the Scottish Manufacturing Advisory Service where he will discuss the key issues facing manufacturing businesses today as well as sharing what support is available to these businesses.

In addition, Campers Scotland Ltd and John Jenkins & Son Ltd will also provide a brief update as to how they have already engaged successfully with the Scottish Manufacturing Advisory Service.

In the second session (31/8/16) the theme will be making the most efficient use of ‘Energy in Your Business’. Attendees will be joined by Teresa Llusa of Resource Efficient Scotland, a sustainability specialist with over 10 years' experience in the UK's sustainable tourism and waste sectors.

Falkirk Council Business Gateway will also talk about the 'Expert Help' programme which will enable local businesses to access specialised one to one support covering a number of topics including help with environmental and sustainability issues. 

Creative Industries will be the focus of discussion at the final session (1/9/16) where Clive Gillman, Director of Creative Industries at Creative Scotland, will discuss the issues facing those in the creative sector in 2016 and share what support is available.

Iain Kirkwood of Helix Binders will provide an update about the work that his company is doing and the opportunities they are finding from developing new creative elements to their existing business.

Councillor Dennis Goldie, spokesperson for Economic Development said: “These free sessions will help local businesses find out more about important issues that can effect their operations.

“They also provide great networking and support opportunities for local businesses to potentially expand.”

Breakfast will be provided at the morning sessions and a light snack at the evening event.
