Our Waste Services team has been recognised for its work in delivering the Council’s Litter Strategy and Litter Prevention Action Plan – Take Pride in Falkirk at the prestigious APSE Awards last month.
The team was the only Scottish local authority to secure a finalist place in the Best Community and Neighbourhood Initiative category.
APSE (Association for Public Service Excellence) is the organisation dedicated to promoting quality in the delivery of frontline services to local communities. Their awards receive hundreds of submissions every year and only Councils who meet the stringent criteria of the judges are shortlisted.
Take Pride in Falkirk, has a strong focus on prevention as a long-term solution to litter, dog fouling and fly tipping.
Working with residents, community groups, schools, and local businesses to help improve communities, the team provide support with local clean ups, encourage and promote recycling methods and help organisations produce their own litter prevention plans.
Councillor Iain Sinclair, Portfolio Holder for Climate said: “Our Litter Strategy sets out how we will keep the area clean and free from litter, dog fouling and fly tipping which is already showing good results following its launch last year. We all want to enjoy litter free streets and open spaces, and by taking steps both individually and collectively we can make a difference. By reaching the finals, the work of the team and wider community has been rightfully recognised.”
