A team of Swedish delegates headed for Falkirk last week to find out how the Scottish Government’s national strategy ‘Getting It Right For Every Child’ (GIRFEC) initiative, was working locally and how Falkirk’s Children’s Services Partnership was able to share their experiences with our European partners.
The one-day visit allowed visitors to meet with experienced practitioners from across Falkirk and combine learning experiences.
Organiser Gillian Millar, GIRFEC Lead and Partnership Co-ordinator said: “It was great to share our experiences first hand from Falkirk’s perspective and give our counterparts from Sweden better insight into how they could make a similar scheme in Sweden work.”
Councillor Cecil Meiklejohn, Leader of Falkirk Council said: “It was lovely to welcome our Swedish guests to Falkirk. Hearing directly from professionals in early years, primary schools, and Barnardo’s, sharing their learning and practice experience, I’m sure the delegates gained valuable insight to embrace the principles of GIRFEC.”
