A report to Falkirk Council’s Education, Children and Young People Executive next week (12 September) highlights the most recent outcomes from Scottish Qualification Authority (SQA) exams for 2022/23.
The findings show that at level 3 and 4, awards have performed consistently with previous years or even exceeded them. At SQA level 5, there is a decline from the previous year, but the performance aligns with pre-pandemic years.
In addition, SQA level 6 awards are consistent with previous years and level 7 have seen an improvement.
The report also highlights the transition back to formal examinations post COVID-19 with course and assessment adaptations to support learning recovery.
It is expected that most courses will return to their usual assessment formats in 2024.
To support students, schools are taking proactive measures, including targeted support for at-risk student groups through study clubs and peer mentoring.
