Over recent years, the air quality in the Grangemouth area has improved and is consistently meeting the required standards for sulphur dioxide (SO2). SO2 is a by-product of refining oil in Grangemouth.

Falkirk Council are proposing to revoke the Air Quality Management Area (AQMA) for SO2.
