Major investment planned for Bonnybridge

Falkirk Council has announced a series of improvement projects to enhance public spaces, improve accessibility, and create new recreational opportunities in Bonnybridge.
Enhancing public spaces
By asking the local community to highlight areas they felt needed improved, the Council was able to identify key projects that would help make Bonnybridge Toll and Memorial Park more welcoming.
Upgrade work will include:
- Better access and public realm improvements at Bonnybridge Toll
- Improved accessibility in Memorial Park, with new pathways, seating, landscaping and a dedicated flagpole area
- A new pump track at Anderson Park, offering space for cycling and other wheeled sports
Cllr Paul Garner, Falkirk Council’s Deputy Leader and spokesperson for Economic Development, said:
This regeneration work is about using the information the community has given to us and shaping projects that deliver on what they have said. Once complete, the improvements will create better spaces for everyone – whether it is families visiting the park, young people looking to develop their cycling skills, or residents who simply want a more attractive and accessible local environment.
Improving accessibility

The improvement work at Memorial Park aims to make the entire site more accessible. Paths will be resurfaced and high-quality materials used around the memorials to make them a focus.
Seating areas will be upgraded with new benches and new shrubs and flowers planted. Deciduous trees will replace identified conifers in the park to enhance both the look and safety of the area.

Public realm works at Bonnybridge Toll will complete the work, with tactile paving installed at crossings, bollards straightened or replaced, muddy areas resurfaced, and broken kerbs repaired.
Street signs and lighting columns will be cleaned to improve the overall appearance of the area.
Pump track at Anderson Park

Following a feasibility study of multiple locations across Bonnybridge, Anderson Park was identified as the most suitable site for a pump track. The project is being led by Green Action Trust, and design work is already underway.
Discussions around the installation of a potential astroturf pitch at Anderson Park are ongoing, with further community engagement planned to explore the best use of the £100,000 which was originally approved as a contribution to this project.
When will work begin?
Construction on Bonnybridge Toll and Memorial Park is expected to begin this summer, with landscaping and planting potentially continuing later in the year. Once a contractor is appointed, a detailed timeline will be shared with residents.
Cllr Paul Garner added:
These improvements reflect our commitment to investing in Bonnybridge and ensuring local people benefit from high-quality public spaces and facilities. By working together with the community, we are delivering projects that will have a lasting impact and create a more vibrant and accessible environment for everyone.
