A large town park surrounded by residential developments on all sides, the park comprises large areas of mown grass, two flood retention ponds adding interest and biodiversity, a good quality flood-lit sports pitch and some areas of amenity planting and woodland.

A wide bitmac surfaced footpath runs along one side of the site, while a secondary network of stoned paths passes through the park. Play facilities are scattered through the park. The site has changing facilities for the sports ground. Good sized open space for recreation and sports. Gairdoch Park is one of six local parks accorded Queen Elizabeth Field status by the charity Fields In Trust who work to safeguard open spaces for communities.
