The Falkirk Council area is changing - and you have the power to influence what happens next. The Local Development Plan 3 (LDP3) consultation is open, and we're looking for your ideas on how the area could be developed.

Whether you’re a local resident, a member of a community group or a business owner, we want to hear your ideas. Do you want to see town centres revitalised? More new housing? Better transport links? Or derelict land brought back to life?

Whatever your ideas, this is your opportunity to have your say and influence how the local area could evolve.

What is the LDP and why is it important?

The LDP is a long-term strategy that determines how land will be used and developed across the Falkirk Council area. It ensures that growth is sustainable and meets the needs of residents and businesses.

It sets out a vision for the area, an overall strategy, and detailed policies and proposals indicating where development should, or should not take place, and provides criteria which we use when assessing planning applications.

Why take part?

Your ideas will inform the development of the next phase of our LDP which will be used to inform decision around:

  • the development of housing, businesses including retail, community facilities
  • investment in infrastructure to support economic growth
  • improvements to the environment and greenspaces

  • Improvements to green spaces, playparks, community facilities or town centres
  • Bring vacant or derelict land or buildings back to life
  • Improved path links for walking, cycling and wheeling
  • Conservation of wildlife or built heritage
  • Projects to sustainably manage flood risk or protect and restore the water environment

Cllr Paul Garner, Deputy Leader of Falkirk Council and spokesperson for Economic Development, said:

"Planning affects everyone. The homes we live in, the places we go to work and relax, and the local facilities we use are often the result of planning decisions influenced by the development plan.

“LDP3 will look to tackle the big challenges facing the future development and growth of our area - such as climate change, the biodiversity crisis, and identifying enough deliverable land to meet housing needs.

“Getting involved at the early stages means you can influence how the plan responds to the area's challenges and what the plan can do for your place and community.
